Consensus on What Tobaccos in Types of Pipes?

I find I get poor smokes in any pipe with a conical chamber, thus I avoid them. OTOH I could be nuts. Or am.

I love conical chambers, but thinking about it, perhaps the blends I'm smoking in those are some of my drier ones.......... ?

Yes, and I chose not to dry mine "crunchy dry."

I definitely have my own parameters that give me the best results (or at I least I think they do), but that’s all based on subjectivity. A lot of people find differences (or think they do), so you should experiment to find your sweet spots. If something is so-so in a pot, try it in a narrower bowl, or vice versa.

I'm very dogmatic about this. Brown pipes get latakia, red pipes are for Virginia blends, and black pipes are for burleys. And, I only smoke aromatics in pipes that the pipemaker has designated as "aromatic only" pipes.

Many of my pipes are of the same shape as it's the one that I have come to enjoy the most, so I pretty much smoke every type of blend from the same shape. However, different pipes in the collection seem to favor a specific genre. Every pipe is a bit different even if it's the same shape, so I just try different things in each pipe I get until something sticks. Definitely not scientific, but it works.

I do have pipes of other shapes and have done the same experimentation with different blends until I find that one is better than another in a particular pipe.i have a well bent Bjarne that is aromatic all the way.

Cobs are pretty universal and handle all blends well. I have some for testing aromatics, one for Burley, and another for flakes. The flake one does especially well with Luxury Twist Flake and Hansom Flake. Dunno why, but that's the way it is!
