Most of what you see in that pic is from the sanding and filing. You may notice that the pipe looks black in places. That's because of I don't have a proper sanding wheel, so I'm improvising with my grinding wheel and dremel, as well as hand sanding.

Woohoo! Finally more time on the new pipe. Being that it was a pre-drilled block, it came with a stem more suited for a freehand/freeform pipe. I replaced it with an acrylic straight stem, started honing the shank and tried to work on the symmetry a little. At this point I think I'll start working the rest by hand files.

Off to a good start! I have absolutely no talent for such things. I would probably cut my hand up while ruining a perfectly good piece of briar. :rofl:
