Cobs are super light for clenching. I really wanted to learn to clench them to free up my hands for my shop. I started with light briars and cobs, then some slighting larger pipes but with rubber bities, now, as long as the pipe is balanced, I can clench and move around with anything. As chasingembers said, it's more about a balance a lot of times then biting. My current favorites in the shop are a straight black meerschaum, a bent apple Radice, and a big Nording Signature that is just lovely. Just like breath smoking, it just takes a little practice.
