robertmurdoch, I politely told that maggot about his filthy pipes, I politely asked 4 times over one month for him to leave feedback, I finally told him I will never do business with him again if he did not leave feedback. I had left him positive feedback even though his pipes were filthy. He got nasty with me because I dared ask him so many times to leave positive feedback. Shinypipes is known at every pipe site on the web as scumbag sellers who never clean their pipes and never leave feedback in a timely manner for people. They ban people from their auctions all the time, as I know at least a dozen guys at different sites who had had lousy experiences with these low lives.
Everyone in the pipe community knows that Shinypipes are scumbags. Robert, you must be the luckiest guy on the planet always getting perfect pipes and perfect service, could it be you are shinypipes, I think so. So you come here and bad mouth pipe smokers as thieves and liars, definitely a smart way to do business. Now piss off maggot.

would anyone consider smoking an estate pipe from the 'bay without first doing their own cleaning? one reason I would never do 'pot luck' at work was.. my idea of a clean kitchen and someone else's could be miles apart.

@dochudson...I also hate "potlucks" unless it's with my close friends, the name is fitting... hope you luck out and don't die of dysentery! lol

Exactly. Even if a pipe is advertised as clean and ready, it's still coming from (in most cases) a stranger, so common sense would dictate going over it a few times in and out just to be sure before lighting it up.
I love the restoration and cleaning process, so I have my own standards of "clean" that may not be exactly the same as a seller. So I'm less concerned with a pipe being described as "ready to smoke" as I am in the accuracy of the pictures shown compared to the pipe upon arrival. In fact "clean and ready to smoke" is irrelevant to me as a buyer.

Clearly this shinypipes dude isn't particularly skilled at the art of deception. The post from the "new guy" coming to shinypipes rescue is just about the most transparent and ill-planned ruse I have seen since the time I received an e-mail from a very nice african gentleman who requested my bank account information (and a small advance to cover certain fees) so he could kindly deposit $37Million into my account. Both sad and hilarious at the same time.
In any event, I do want to thank Cigrmaster for holding back.

I will say that any seller that wishes for any longevity had best learn that the pipe community is small and word travels extremely quickly.
People tell only a few friends about the good times they have had with sellers, and many about the bad times. With the Internet many can escalate into thousands within hours.
And rightly so! Just like it used to be in the good olden days! It's past time business owners get back into the habit of realizing that the customer is king, because the customers put the food on the table ... and one single unhappy customer can break your business faster than you can spoon up your soup.
With the great population boom and globalization and the internet came a lot of anonymity and only-to-be-seen-once customers, so a lot of business owners thought "heck, I can make some quick coin and screw people with a shitty product, they won't come back anyway". Good to see that at least in smaller communities like ours that practice fires back in your face in a heartbeat.

The problem with misrepresented pipes and unclean estates has been too common of one. That is why I created BackyardBriar.com I think it would be a wise and good thing to hold estate pipe dealers accountable. But for sellers who are merely selling estate property, you cannot expect them to be knowledgeable. The only way to truly get a ready to smoke pipe is by knowing your reputable dealers and supporting them.

I take it as a given that any pipe I win off ebay will have to be cleaned and sanitized. As many have already stated here "clean and ready to smoke" are relative terms. In the case of smokingpipes.com I agree 1000% with captainsousie the cost of cleaning and sanitizing is included in their estates so I have never had a problem with them. With ebay it is always; LET THE BUYER BEWARE. :!:

Robertmurdock-----You are VERY rude and certainly no gentleman. Take your arrogant mentality elsewhere. This is supposed to be a friendly site.

I remember a long time ago, reading Shinypipes "Sellers Requirements," shown at the bottom of every listing. After reading that diatribe, I was almost certain what to expect, and have never placed a bid with her.
