Created for Sailorman Jack. An ASP regular...who was known to simply place a full cigar in a pipe and smoke it.

I usually do not smoke cigars, but when I do I like the small cigars. Makes me feel like Clint Eastwood lol. The other day I finished a very small Tatiana and having read about smoking the last bit in a pipe I decided to give it a try. It was not soggy as billkay mentioned his was instead it was quite dry. It is so small does not have time to get soggy. I found it to be pretty good. Tasted different than smoking it normally but still good. Next time I smoke one of them I suspect I will do it again. It is a interesting change up! YMMV.

Years ago, when moneys were of concern, I would finish off a cigar in the pipe. Never had one get moist and mushy on me though. I could see nothing to be gained in letting a couple inches of good butt go to waste.

Personal preference, I guess. First, the cigar is designed to have different flavors coming from the different parts -- the filler burns the hottest, the binder less so (and more flavorful), and the wrapper imparting a lot of the "yum" factor in most cigars. Also what happens as you smoke is tar accumulates towards the head, which changes the flavor. For what I smoke, the last inch and a half or so I throw away. There's a point of no return for me, in which a tarry puff can ruin the hour plus I've spent on a cigar and leaves me with a bad aftertaste.
Somewhat related, bouchons are designed for a pipe, and are quite wonderful :)

I tried several times to smoke cigars, but never felt satisfied. So I started to crush them and smoke in the pipe and I prefer this way. Sometimes I mix the cigar with other pipe tobaccoes, but in small quantity otherwise the cigar taste usually overcomes the other tobaccoes. Rarely I smoke just the cigar tobacco in my pipes.

Some days ago I smoked a Don Tomas Clasico in the pipe: when I ended smoking I vomited even my soul.
