In this post, a fellow forum member was saved by his Missouri Meerschaum, which passed an impact with flying colors.

Question is, can the Old Fox Sandalwood pass an impact test?

Yup, this needs to be the next test.

Dropping a pipe is a heart wrenching experience, especially for Meers, but also for a wooden pipe. To simulate repeated falls, this pipe was subjected to multiple blows from a hammer on the lower bowl portion.

My guess? With everything this pipe has been through, it will probably just shrug it off.

After about 12 furious blows:

An ever-so-subtle dent in the bowl is all the evidence this pipe was attacked with a hammer.

The concern for future purchasers of this smoking instrument shows a deft approach to the subject. This impact resistance test, the Old Fox looks to be a winner.

Wonder if it can withstand a rigorous chamber cleaning (ream)?

Other than what I would call the "pores opening up" the pipe is unchanged. I'm starting to think that the assumed practices of pipe maintenance might be a little misplaced. Remember when cleaning the bowl and stem with running water started a firestorm here?

This cheap pipe is really impressing me with the fight its putting up.
