Okay, full disclosure. I love Christmas and I love Christmas music! I love many genres of music, from country to classic rock, to metal, jazz, blues, classical, swing, etc. I hate when an iconic song is remade! Nobody but Led Zeppelin should, by law, ever be able to perform or record Stairway to Heaven! Sacrilege!
The same applies to Christmas music. Some songs, by some artists, should never be sung by ANYONE else! White Christmas (Bing), Blue Christmas (Elvis), Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree (Brenda Lee), The Christmas Song - Chestnut Roasting On An Open Fire (Johnny Mathis), Rudolph (Burl Ives).
I won't listen to any arguments on this. Now, get off my lawn! And Merry Christmas to all!
Too bad Led Zeppelin stole that tune from someone else, lol!

I enjoy all the traditional Christmas songs mentioned, but I also listen to The Bells of Dublin, a 1991 album of Christmas songs and traditional carols by the Irish band The Chieftains. The album features guest performances by various artists, the likes of Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Marianne Faithfull, Nanci Griffith, Rickie Lee Jones and the actor Burgess Meredith. The peeling church bells on one song is quite the introduction.

The cover versions of nearly all Christmas songs tend to be lesser if not plain awful, with great exceptions including anything by Louis Armstrong or Leon Redbone who always bought an entirely new joy to the songs they recorded.

Anyone who doesn’t like song remakes has NOT heard disturbeds version of Sound of Silence.
Ok, I'm a purist... baseball, pipes, cigars, and Christmas songs. I like the "original" and no frills. I don't like remakes too much. However, disturbed's version of Sound of Silence is as equally haunting as Simon and Garfunkel's and that dude can wail. I like it as much as the original.

I like different music depending on what I'm doing. Christmas music is fun when we are cooking or cleaning around the house during Christmas time. Although my favorite house work music is buddy Holly radio on Pandora, or some love making R&B.

Used to hate Christmas songs. Used to march in every Christmas parades within 100 miles. In full Highland gear playing bagpipes. After doing that for about 10 years, I said no more. I refused to play any Christmas carols on my bagpipes. By that time, I was off "street" band anyway, but still. Do enjoy some now days. But nothing like "Christmas with The Rat Pack" to brighten up my holiday smoking on the front porch.
Not sure how long you have been in the RTP- Raleigh area but back in the 80's and 90's WKNC would play death metal Christmas songs. I absolutely loved it, twas different. We actually had a decent music scene back then.
Now as for bagpipes, that is awesome. I enjoy hearing bagpipes. AC/DC and Korn come to mind as far as rock bands that used them in their music.

Bon Scott and Jonathan Davis rock the bagpipes!

How did they think they even had a case here, this obviously sounds nothing like Stairway to Heaven.
