BUT YOU CHANGED THE ENNERDALE AND CONTINUE TO LIE ABOUT IT.

Just wanted to get that out there, can’t remember if it’s been mentioned lately.
Maybe they didn't change anything, but they just cannot take the same ingredients and make something taste the same over and over... like all of the other companies. Could be all of that nasty looking old equipment they use. puffy

But, for some years there, they had a good run at consistency. Maybe they just lost their touch or something.

But, this new group of fans probably won't mind. And, the diehards. Maybe it will be a positive for them. "Hey look, I wonder what this tin is going to taste like?"
They should use that. "Our Tobacco is like a box of chocolates..."

I was pondering this thread whilst cutting up some plug this morning when I had an epiphany or what some alcoholics would call a moment of clarity. If I was Gawith & Hogwarts I would tell my audience that if they didn't stop moaning I would combine the company with STG and launch an 1 Q flavored twist and a Rose Geranium flavored version of Clan in tins manufactured in Russian and move production to Albania! rotf

Moaning? I think that we have members who were genuinely concerned because they love the company. But, there are two types of fans. Others would lick the drivel off of GH's boots no matter what their current productions look/taste like. The second set of fans, also just love to hear a GH alcohol driven snark towards their fans and customer base, and the rest are fans that try their best to keep supporting them, despite their obvious contempt for them.

I think this new line of CS posting might do better for business.

That's three types of fans, sir.

This whole shit is just so strange. It's entertaining... But maybe it's sad, I don't know man.

Given the lies from GH and the people who would apparently smoke a dog turd and love it... Man.

I think in the final analysis you just have to decide if thats what you want to smoke. I buy their products since they deliver a sufficient dose of nicotine to satisfy my needs. Their twists whilst a little changed are also smokable. In the absence of anything else you either develop new tastes or just adjust your expectations. I remember the royal bollocking we got on here from people when the Standard Tobacco launched Bengal Slices, War Horse and the John Cottons range. They were as close to the original blends as could be achieved absent the use of a Tardis to travel back in time. I am sure people moaned about Cannon Plug not tasting like it did during the Battle of Trafalgar back in 1805 when they were a young cabin boy!

Ha ha ha, this from the guy who went bonker-snonkers when Condor changed a little bit. I have never seen the words "goose fart" types so many times all over the forums, ha ha. But, this is why we love ya.

This thread and then GH is in stock at SP. I bought a bit of Black and Brown Bogie to try. Never smoked any GH product, but the types of tobacco and the nicotine levels seem like I might like them. Never smoked tobacco that comes in a rope form. Intriguing...

Change is inevitable. For my part I am grateful that pipe tobacco is even still being produced. I try a little of the new releases, and if it's something I like, I put away several pounds of it. I enjoy making the comparisons. Some tobaccos have changed so radically (and for the worse) that I have discontinued purchasing them, but fortunately I put away enough of earlier iterations that it's not of concern.

When GH Rich Dark Honeydew stopped being imported, I bought several old bags that were collecting dust on the shelves at certain brick and mortar shops, and I've been enjoying it over the years. Same with the long-forgotten GH Brown Cavendish which I have a dwindling supply of. I purchased a couple of ounces of today's re-release of Rich Dark Honeydew and it will be interesting to make the comparison. Differences notwithstanding, if it's any good I might buy up several more pounds.

Let's all be grateful that when Samuel Gawith were selling STG weren't buying.
This. Not that STG blends suck, they just would ruin Gawith and their way. I can say for sure that 2017 Skiff is completely different than what has been the past 3 years. There is a different casing and tobaccos. None the less, both are great Englishes. Glad they’re still around.
