FYI I should restate that I'm intending this as a PSA thread rather than a show-off thread. But as the old saying goes, the road to dick-measuring contests is paved with good intentions. I forget who said that, but he was probably pretty important. Maybe it was Virgil. Or perhaps W.C Fields.
Anyway, I've been smoking a pipe for just shy of seven years now, and in that time, I've gone from having one 16 oz. jar of [insert Mac Baren aromatic here] and one basket pipe to about a dozen pipes and what my latest cellar inventory job has revealed to be a good two dozen pounds or so of tobacco. At the tortoise-esque rate I smoke, this will easily last me the rest of my life and, having no children, will surely leave some poor schmuck with the annoying task of selling or disposing of the stuff upon my departure from this mortal coil.
All that said, regarding the aforementioned cellar inspection, I feel mostly pretty good about what I've going on here. Looks like I've got about a 60-25-15 ratio of bulk to tins to jars. While I expect to have a lot of active jars to satiate my appetite for variety, at this stage of things, I'm feeling a slight regret that I didn't discover bulk earlier than I did, and the (to me) somewhat ridiculous menagerie of single tins I've got is (and always has) put something of a strain on the small amount of room I actually have to build and retain a cellar. The following photo should illustrate this conundrum amply:

So my advice to anyone new at cellaring (especially if you've got a limited amount of storage space to work with like I do)...do your beefing up on bulk, not tins! You'll thank yourself later.
And yes...the rug really ties the room together.
