While i like searocks, i have found that the Radice Rind especially in the (E) series (ebonite stems) are just as nice as the searocks for considerably less money. Castello makes a beautiful pipe but their stem work is often too thick. Radice stems are much more tapered.

+1 here, they make a decent pipe but the stem is on the thicker side - not a pro or a con just preference.

Sea Rocks kick ass!! Nice looking and the exact finish is unique. A recent thread noted that Costello makes larger draft holes that allow a good smoke and most preferred this open design, I wonder if the thicker stem is a result?

I am travelling to Italy at the end of the month, I plan on buying a Castello while there. Your pictures are getting me excited in a good way.... I should rephrase that, but it is kinda true.

It does seem to have a larger draft hole and that may be the reason for a meatier stem/bit. All I know is I like the look, feel and smoke of this thing big time. I'm envious of the Italy trip. A nice Castello sounds like the perfect souvenir!

When in Rome try Novelli. It's near the Trevi Fountain and is a good source for Castellos. p.s. Bring lots of dollars, you'll need them. puffy

I just returned from Italy, last Saturday. Italy can be costly IF you eat in the tourist restaurants. If you plan on doing some walking around you can find some little places that offer great food for very reasonable prices. At Novelli, ask Marco for some suggestions. I budgeted 100 Euros per day for food, and we spent half that.

Enjoy your trip.

I have ~25 pipes and my fav ones are all Castello sea rocks. They’re light weight and smoke great. What I love most is the acrylic stems with the large lip that ensures the pipe stays between your teeth in most any situation. I love to smoke them while working in my garage on some piece of wood or simply enjoying the daytime sun. Great choice!

I've been collecting the Jobey Stromboli pipes and just love that style of coarse rustication. I'm pretty sure that I'll be getting a Castello Sea Rock or two in the near future.
I bought a Stroboli at a pipe show years ago. It did look like a Sea Rock and had a wonderful finish... plus it was a cool shape (Poker) and was cheap. I didn't expect much when I lit it up for the first time, but I have to admit it smoked real nice. I'm not crazy about their fancy stems, but I would recommend them in the modest price range. puffy

I just picked up a Sea Rock 55 (4K). I really like the rustication and this particular finish (see pic). I also like the bit size and the weight (lighter than it seems like it should be). And it smokes wonderfully.
That's a great looking pipe I just bought a 55 as well but a KK, does it smoke dry? Or do you have any problems with gargle? I keep hearing mixed reviews on the shape

Says this is a shape 32. Other than the 55 I'm not to familiar with the castello shape chart

I own four different sea rock pipes. They are all in my fav list. Every one smokes great, is light weight, and has the amazing Castello wide bit making it easy to grip in the teeth. Castello makes the coolest pipes on the planet in my humble opinion, but then again, I’ve had a couple Scotch’s tonight, so take from that what you will.
