Carolina Red Flake 2024

Well, we’re into September, and that’s when the Carolina Red Flake drops.

According to a post on Instagram, this will drop on the 24th of September, 2024.

I noticed the tin art doesn’t mention Perique for the 2024 release, but in a tasting notes video a mention of 2020’s Perique was made.

While I have quite a bit of cellared CRF from past releases, I will definitely be stocking up on this years release as well…

Thanks for the heads up. It'll be interesting to see the crop notes. I can't make out the details on the label in the video, but it looks like it's going to be a blend of three crops like last year's Anthology 2023. I wonder how much overlap the two blends will have.

Seems like they have been alternating CRF with or without perique every other year for awhile now. I enjoy both versions fortunately

I would say the sugar content is a tad higher than moderate. I'm currently smoking another bowl to determine the order of the flavor aspects of the blend. It's not as sweet as the first two productions, which were more sugary.

And if I want Perique, can always add it myself…

I really like Carolina Red Flake with perique but unfortunately, I have never enjoyed any Virginia that didn't have perique in it.

It looks like this one is Anthology 2023 without the stoved component. Which is great in my opinion. I liked Anthology 2023 and am looking forward to getting 2024 Red Flake if it's something like it.
