My thoughts....uh how would they react to someone from Colorado shipping Cannabis to Canada? Taxes of course put aside. Would that be considered a Hobby? At least I know bud doesn’t come in tins, yet. Also did the package make it to your house as “return to sender”———+1 Cosmic

"So, you got a package that was marked "Return to Sender"? Or, some other form of notification? Sorry, I am just trying to understand."
No, the vendor ships, it hits customs, and goes back right back to the vendor, who alerts the buyer.
Ordinarily, if something is opened and assessed, you pick it up at the post office and have to pay to do so, GST, HST, tobacco (per gram usually) taxes, handling fees, etc. This idea of these fuzzily declared packages just being outright rejected is new in my experience. Don't know if there's a policy change or what.
Packages are also abandoned or Returned to Sender (upon non-delivery) depending on what shipping method you pay for.

That is strange from customs though. New regulations in place regarding tobacco?

Not really, other than the plain packaging BS coming into effect this year (I'm tempted to post some of the stupid replies from members of parliament in defence of that nonsense that I got after we sent them all a letter protesting that just so that we can have a collective laugh, or a groan).
Briarblues explained it wizardly. I've had parcels opened with a couple of tins that were waved through, and others unopened but accurately declared by SPC which were assessed duties, even if it was only two tins. It's a crapshoot.
Again, my take is that they are sending them back to sellers to 'teach them a lesson' about not printing TOBACCO on the declaration. Tobacco is heavily taxed and, along with alcohol, makes the government A LOT of money. They resent not cashing in on that. And the current government is particularly voracious.

Same rules what Briarblues (Michael)told above stand true here as well, what about of collectible tins?Thats sounds like a descent declaration idea to me, and to be on the safer side,I avoid ordering any tobacco in bulk form.

You got lucky. They could have seized it, which is precisely what happend to a recent order a friend made from the same vendor. He phoned the CBSA and chatted to a guy there. He was told that they are flagging anything coming in from 4noggins that are not accurately marked as tobacco and either seizing it or sending it back. My friend got him to change his order from a seizure to a return to sender.

And the customs declaration requires any tobacco to be expressly declared. So hobby supplies or candlemaking accoutrements or collectible tins is just simply not a proper declaration.

And also, specifically in response to Sasquatch, my buddy was told that they do have a recent program where they are being vigilant about accurate declarations and are flagging vendors that don't comply. The CBSA sends the vendor a letter the first time warning them and after that, if they see another improperly declared shipment, they seize it or, if they feel nice, outright reject it and send it back.

There would be no point to someone in Canada ordering magic weed from Colorado. That stuff is legal here, is not heavily taxed, and is available in numerous places, both B&Ms and online.

Yeah, agreed, Sas; sounds like the word's out flagging 4nog as a known 'baccy vendor.

We actually have a rule on the forum that we are not to talk about ways of beating the mail or taxes. But, we get some folks who come on all the time and ask "how can I get illegal tobacco into Canada with paying duties or taxes!!!"
People never think about the fact that we have thousands of times more people watching this site than participating, and surely one curious employee of Customs will come across it. All it would take would be a Google search for "how to get tobacco products into Canada"
Bing bing... check this out
Who is to blame for Canadian customs knowing about 4nogg. You guys.

Yes but there are ways that are legal. My buddy, who I smoke with, can bring back a few tins, not pay duties as long as it is below the limit and share with me. This is the standard practice with alcohol and there are no issues at the border. This would work for Mike who is an infrequent smoker.

Can we put this on a poster on the US/Mexico border so everyone will just go around?
This is a slick scheme to boost the number of Canadian Taxpayers...

Exactly Peck, which is why Canada has its head up its ass. Not the wonderful Canadians but the folks running your government. Of course here in the US we spend money on Japanese Quail snorting Cocaine. Cute, huh. Guess we’re going ahead and skipping the Pot and legalizing the hard shit. Perhaps Pipesmagazine forum members need to sail to the moon and beat China, we can tax space and tell these asses to go *^%# themselves. 8O

As I use to mention on forums why did folks keep publicly outing certain vendors that would ship mislabeled goods internationally. Plus this vendor pissed off a lot of people with their crazy FB post.

Cgarmaster and Hoosier will remember... Back in the day (and still carrying on to present) on the cigar forums, discussion about shipping methods and customs was prohibited. Every forum had the same rule in force.

I find it odd that so many, talk ao freely, in a public domain....
