If it were me, I’d be tempted to just cut off that section of the shank and re-drill a mortise to receive the tenon. But that’s just me.
Already got 'em. Two on each arm. When I fall asleep and the pipe falls from my clench, the fastener catches on the button holes or near there. But I lined the front of the cardy with asbestos, so I am somewhat safe.Now we don’t want that...maybe leather patches on the cardy?
And to think this dilemma would be avoided if I wasn’t such a cheap arse and repaired my pipes properly rather than stealing the neighbours hoses...Not asbestos, and no lip to catch the pipe or embers....and it's baby blue. Yech.
