Every wonder how a politician goes into office with nothing and comes out a multi millionaire 12 years later on a salary of $175K per year?

Haha, they get a lot more than that! Ever look into their benefits package and what they get AFTER their "service?" It is quite shocking.

If you requested their benefits package from any "real" employer, you would be laughed out of the office, regardless of your position.

Maybe I'll just apply for a mississippi tobacco retail permit and I can order straight from the manufacturer. I'll be my only customer ?

this opens the door wide open for the former nascar drivers for additional income. bootlegging will start again. people will buy and sell in black market and government won't get a dime out of it. which means, the government will do crazy ivan very quick and allow sale online again.

Possibly, but I don't quite believe it. The current gov't's are quite cocky now that they have plenty of surveilance tech in place. The whole Internet is being monitored 24/7, as are other means of telco. Safest communication nowadays is vis-a-vis in a white noise area or snail mail, and they can always revert to Stasi methods of reading your hand-written letters without you being the wiser. The Panopticon is essentially in place now.

they will do it the old fashion way. word of mouth, notes being passed, whole family getting involved. government can monitor all they want. only time this will fail is if there's a rat. no one like rats and snitches.

Yup, and we've rodents galore. Talking to someone who lived in the Soviet Union he told me that out of 6 persons one was a spy. I think the ratio has only increased with all these new rats taking pride in snitching because they're 'helping you' be healthier or because they're doing their civic and environmental duty.

Don't get me wrong: by pointing out the nigh-insurmountable obstacles before us I don't aim to be negative, defeatist, a killjoy, or a curmudgeon; I point them out so that we don't get complacent or overconfident.

Said it before but it’s worth repeating: cellar wide, cellar deep and cellar now.

That noise you are hearing is the two minute warning and this game is almost over.

If you’re even allowed to buy tobacco in ten years it will likely be heavily restricted and taxed and bloody expensive but at least you won’t be able to order online and most of the B&M stores will be long gone and you’ll have very little choice, but otherwise it will be ... over.

A very sad +1

I have been focusing on buying blends that would get the ax via the deeming regulations (post 2/07), but really all blends could become expensive and very hard to find.

We all know they snuck in raising the tobacco age to 21 in the recent spending bill. Its scary they can just toss in laws like this into giant unrelated bills knowing there won't be much debate or resistance.
That's a major issue in general. Throwing something unrelated into a bill to sneak it in or even more nefarious make a great bill everyone would get behind like the be nice to children and veterans bill and throw something terrible as an attempted smear. So I won't vote to make congress clothing optional but that is in the bill so now you can slam me for not liking children or veterans. Side note seems like a bad idea to let anyone write the laws that effect their own conduct.
