C&D Virginia Recommendations

I'm just coming here to respectfully request that everyone stop recommending Yorktown.

I am not quite sure I got the spelling right …. YORKTOWN. YORK TOWN.

I would not look to C&D if you are interested in exploring VAs. The blend that peaked your interest, H&H Anniversary Kake, is a Sutliff product and is a blend of Virginias and perique. Watch City’s Old Dominion is a favorite Virginia/perique blend for me, also manufactured by Sutliff. That’s what I would try next.

This is next level sage advise. I have really enjoyed Bengal Slices as well so there is that. Thank you!

Cornell and Diehl Derringer contains brown, red and bright virginias. I'm not able to handle the nicotine in burleys so I want the darker foundational flavors from the mixture of va's in this blend. To use a musical analogy, I want some baritone and base flavors, not just the high notes, without too much nicotine.
Derringer comes in bulk in a loose shred so you can buy an ounce or two to experiment. It yields it's best when barely smoldering. Your nose will enjoy the aromas. Enjoy!

That is helpful to know about the types of virginias, thank you! I am not a big burley fan either. Smoked some straight and it was not my favorite and my wife did not like how I smelled. She tolerates it when I smell like a campfire (thank you latakia).

By the time my C&D tins get opened, the broken flakes are more like ribbon to me too. I think my UPS drivers put my packages into one of these while he transports it.
