Surprised not to see the 'Cascadia' range of plugs getting smoked / mentioned more by the Americans.

C&D can't even produce a true flake. Well, if they do, it never makes it to market. I've seen broken flake here and there, but their "broken flake" is more of a ribbon. So confusing.
This is why I was very surprised that one of my tins of XX Flake was perfectly formed flakes, in fact there is something about the look and texture that reminds me of GH&Co’s flakes. On the other hand no one has said anything about this so I may have come across an anomaly, I’ll have to open another tin to find out. The XX Dark Flake tin that I opened couldn’t even be classified as a ready rubbed, it was totally broken up to the point of being a ribbon cut.

I used to dis C&D for not making proper plugs too but I’ve come to the conclusion that if they are using whole leaf, it is a proper plug. It may not be perfectly formed like the Euro-Plugs but they are indeed whole leaf pressed plugs. I wouldn’t even try ripping off pieces of Dreams of Kadath or Temple Bar, ya need a knife to get a good cut that will burn properly. So yes, the American plugs aren’t like the Euro-Plugs but I’m still glad they make them. I enjoy every plug that C&D has produced whether it’s from the Gl Pease line or their own, they are excellent plugs in their own right. Let’s be happy that they aren’t selling us crumble cakes marketed as plugs.

There was a decent sale on Cascadia (twice) recently.

I picked up the lot at the suggestion of a plug fanatic who is also a member. However, I haven't gotten around to try them yet.

But you're right, Cascadia doesn't seem to be mentioned a lot.

This is my point exactly. It’s like when VW made pickup trucks. It’s not a Ford F-350 or even a 150. Probably not even a Ranger, but it’s still a pickup truck.

The G.L. Pease plugs are definitely more dense than C&D’s cakes. I have to generally sharpen my knife to cut off a decent slice of Jack Knife or Triple Play. But I usually don’t open the tins until they have 2-3 years on them at least. Don’t know if they’re softer when more fresh.

Kadath, Temple and even the big block of Folklore breaks apart like crumble cakes.

Those all look like the same blend and are obviously crumble cakes (Folklore? Isn’t that advertised as a crumble cake? I didn’t pay attention to that release)

This is Dreams of Kadath… it’s obviously a whole leaf plug and it’s delicious. (Temple Bar, Jacknife, Triple Play all look just like this in my experience, unless it’s changed since I bought my stock). If you think the below pictures look like a crumble cake than we just have to agree to disagree.

I sure hope they didn’t turn these into crumble cakes but I guess it wouldn’t affect me either way… but still.
