Gawith's St James Flake is my favorite blend, but it hasn't been in stock in a long time. Has anyone successfully blended a close substitute? Does anyone have a good approximation of the perique content?

I've been adding some perique to aged Stokkebye LBF and it is pretty good, but doesn't quite mimic the Gawith. I'm going to try with some Sutliff Virginia Slices.

Your profile doesnt give your country. That makes it hard to not waste your time with a useless response.

Oh. Well, if you can get it dan pipe St. Bernard flake is good. Not a copy. I think its smoother and a tad sweeter but not in a fake way. The biggest quantity is 250 gram mylar pack.

Ok, I got damn close to replicating what I like most from St James Flake (the dark fruit sweetness of the perique). I added ~15% volume of perique to the (1 year aged) LBF and I stoved it @200 for 3 hours. I'm still probably too heavy on the perique, but this sure is tasty.

If you can get Full Virginia Flake and just add some perique to it that will likely get you closer than any bulk blend.

That's what I'd do if I had FVF, but I'm trying to find a substitute with bulk tobacco so I'm not at the mercy of hoarding or availability.
