Bulging is good. Just look out for the Swedish Hering speciality Surströmming, known as most stinking fish in the world, exploding tins included:

Most of my cans are already bulging. I am referring only to C&D and GL Pease tins. I recently opened a couple of them, but the color and smell seem to be showing good signs.
In my experience with Pease and CD tins, they do in fact show bulging quite early.
However, more often than not, when I open one I'm less than impressed at the change that has (or hasn't) occurred. Straight Virginia and Virginia dominant blends from CD/Pease with 15+ years of age look essentially the same as they do fresh. Little to no darkening, absence of crystallization- often the tin note has intensified but that's about it.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Had anyone experienced the opposite, with great aging results?
I'd love to see some pictures of older Union Square or Opening Night (or any other) that shows signs of intense fermentation.

C&D burleys will swell after 6 months.
No magic.
