My uncle Vernon passed away this morning. Many of you knew him from the New York pipe club or a president of the UPCA. He was knowledgeable and passionate about pipes. I know several in here have told me he was a mentor. I know he was to me. He will be sorely missed. I'll write more later. I just got the news and knew others would want to know. Raise a pipe for Vernon and keep his family in your thoughts.FB_IMG_1739482888293.jpg

Ted, my deepest condolences to you and your family. Vernon was just as he is in this photo: An optimistic, enjoyable person to be around, always full of enthusiasm, just a pleasure to be with. I know that the two of you were close and my heart goes out to you for that warm, empty space Vernon leaves behind.

And thank you for posting this here. I've suspended my FB account, so I don't get to see Ted's Guitars and Vernon Update page anymore. I'll miss that.

I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but knew about him through his great work with the UPCA. God rest his soul.

Not surprised to learn that your relative was also a well-respected and helpful member of the pipe community.

May he rest in peace

Best wishes to you and your family

RIP Vernon. So sorry for your loss, Ted.

Vernon was one of the first people I met when I started this site and started attending pipe shows back in 2009. He was always so positive, enthusiast, motivating and supportive to what I was doing when the site was so new and unknown. I will always remember and appreciate him for that.
