We're talking designating pipes here, and putting a rope around the rack where you keep them, right?
Does anyone smoke other non-ghosting blends in ghosted pipes, for a sort of blend by ghosting?

Sorry for this crosstalk, but just for reference. Those who love Lakeland blends, what else do you like? My favorite tobaccos are Directors Cut, Exotique, Motzek Strang, stonehaven/Penzance... are these blends you find distasteful? .

I feel I should clarify. When discussing favorite foods, were you to say that your favorite food was raw slugs, I'd never take your advice on food because we'd share no common ground :)

I love all of those blends you e mentioned, Nate. I have a wide range in taste though, as I do with food. I'm not a picky person at all but I'm very passionate about things I like. I've been smoking blends like you mentioned for the past 7 years but I steered clear of Lakelands because all the hyperbole found on these forums. In short, you are denying yourself a whole new world of flavor if ya decide to not at least give them a try. I think the whole Lakeland genre is painfully underrated, as I find some of the blends to be nothing short of genius. Their goal is not to cover up the flavor of tobacco on a blend but to accentuate the flavors and give more of a 3 dementional sensory experience. There is a reviewer on tobaccoreviews.com that said it perfect, if I can find his review I'll post it on this thread.
Beastinview, I really want to try Turkish Delight now, I've never had it. A Greek restaurant that I frequent here puts a hint of rose water in their black tea and it reminds me of certain Lakeland's. I actually do this at home now and I highly recommend it to compliment a blend like Dark Flake Scented.
Foolwiththefez, I agree with everything you said and I immediately disregard someone's opinion if they compare a tobacco with a urinal cake. No ifs ands or buts about it.

Sure thing, Nate. I should note that for someone like yourself, I wouldn't recommend that you start out with the heavy floral blends like Ennerdale at first. I would shoot for something like Condor or Dark Flake scented or even Revor Plug. Those have a mild floral note but the tobacco is prominent. Actually I was thinking last night as I was smoking Revor Plug that it almost tasted Latakia like, how weird. Best Brown #2 is another one I would recommend as a good mild flavored Lakeland tobacco. I really hope ya find something you like, man. I was blown away by the GH&Co. catalog!

I haven't tried Directors Cut, Exotique, or Strang. Penzance was good but in a "I don't care to seek this out again" kind of way. Stonehaven is the tastiest thing I have ever put in my pipe and I wish it was cheaper and easier to get.
As far as other tobaccos I like, my best smoke recently was a bowl of Escudo. I can never have enough Milan Tobacco Chartwell on hand (it is my favorite English blend) and I also like Frog Morton. I've recently been on a huge Virginia kick and have been cellaring VA/Per and VA/Oriental blends like crazy.

Okay, so it's here, and I'm smoking it in a small cob. Before opening the shipping box, I could smell the tobacco inside. It's that strong, so I thought, "uh-oh". 8O

I opened the box, removed the brown wrapping paper, and opened the zip lock bulk bag. I was in the living room when opening it, and my 7 year old was 50 feet away in her room, and asked what that nice smell was almost immediately after opening the bag. Again, it's that strong. The bag note was bergamot mixed with cinnamon, nutmeg, and morning glories. Have to say, not an unpleasant smell at all, just strong. Loaded a cob, put fire to it, and I'm still alive with mustache and tongue still intact. The smoke has a powdery texture, if that makes any sense, and is a lot stronger than Condor. Still picking up the same notes as from the bag, and really don't get the urinal cake reference. Very floral, but in a good way. Really like this stuff!

Glad you like it! The tin note is a room note in itself. ;)

I'm not a fan of the Turkish Delight just because otherwise it's pure sugar! Too sweet for me, but I don't have much of a sweet tooth. Interesting, though.

Need to prowl through the other lakelands now. Any suggestions? BTW, even after showering before work, I can still smell the Ennerdale in my mustache.

Yeah I get more of a rose/almond flavor so far from the lakelands I've tried, except with Kendal flake being very citrus like, I want to try a lakeland bomb as I think I'm in the camp that enjoys it. It's definitely the thrills gum of the tobacco world.

If you like strong blends, Dark Flake Scented is pretty great. It is less sweet than Ennerdale, and has a hearty bergamot aroma. I haven't tried Grousemoor, which is said to be a more lemon-flavored Lakeland, but it is probably next on my list.
