I love the tanginess of Quiet Nights, which i think comes from the red virginias, but maybe it is the perique? Or the way they are playing together?

Regardless, I dont want to smoke Latakia right now because we are in the 100s temperature wise and there is much more to come this summer.

i would like to smoke something that has that sort of flavor but maybe is a “lighter” smoke, if that makes sense, and tobacco reviews only gives me Blends with the words red virginia in the name when i search there. Wondering if there are any blends, especially bulk ones, that can compare.

Thanks in advance.

Try some VaOr blends. C&D Bijou. Not the same but may be what you're looking for.

This is good advice. I'm not an English/Balkan blend smoker like in the past, and I greatly prefer my Va/Ors (without latakia).

Being that Quiet Nights is my favorite of its genre, I believe you too, OP, would like Virginia/Oriental blends without latakia.

I actually bought some c and d oriental silk six months ago and didnt like it at all but lately it had been smelling very good to me and i smoked and enjoyed my first full bowl of it today. It is a VaOr i believe, but it doesnt remind me too much of that rich tangy flavor i get from quiet nights. I will still ad bijou to my list of things to try now that i have discovered i enjoy these type of blend.

Some C&D blends can be very fresh due to the small production and high turnaround, especially from sellers like Smokingpipes. Even a few weeks can make a big difference when blends are young. Plus, as was recently talked about, letting a blend breathe a bit can be helpful too. Glad Oriental Silk turned around for you.
