I think it's time we all make our voices heard people:
From Hextor (8 replies above):
"On April 28, 2015, the FDA Deeming Authority Clarification Act of 2015 (H.R. 2058) was introduced in the House of Representatives. This legislation would change the grandfather date for newly deemed tobacco products from February 15, 2007, to the date on which the FDA’s regulations were finalized, May 5, 2016. H.R. 2058 has been referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce for further consideration. Although no similar legislation has been introduced in the Senate, you may be certain that I will keep your views in mind should relevant legislation be considered during the 114th Congress."

Since this bill would make the situation much better, and is apparently in subcommittee, contacting your representative to support its passage is a good thing to do. FWIW, here is a link to a listing of the Energy & Commerce Committee Members. It would be particularly helpful if your representative is actually on this committee.

If the extended date bill passes, maybe yearly blends, such as Christmas Cheer, could be go on living as the last iteration; but with the single origin component changing each year, as it always has.

Eg, Christmas Cheer 2017 is available permanently, but we would have to check the manufacturing date. Obviously, that would make listing online interesting, but we are a creative bunch! I'm sure something could be figured out!

That is first mention I have heard of possibly losing most or all imported blends. That truly would be tragic because almost all my favorite blends are imported. No Dunhill no Escudo and no Samuel Gawith would almost be unbearable. Is that really a possibility to consider?!!!!
The tobaccos that have been continuously imported and sold prior to 2007 don't get nixed, but will have to comply with FDA requirements. Ugly labels and filings of many compliance papers at the least. Some may disappear under the weight of red tape.
Besides, it's a good idea to buy American, though our choices will most likely be limited to pre-2007 goods.

I won't miss anything because I know where cigrmaster lives and that he is a complete pussy that would rollover and offer me his cellar the moment I turned up.

I've been cellaring for the past several years, so I'm not going to miss anything until I run out of it. Given that I'm a relatively light smoker, the stash will provide oodles of pleasures, barring catastrophe, for many years to come. I've run the blockade before and can do so again. I've cellared deeply on a few blends and cellered wide and more shallowly on others. Granted, compared to some of the cellars out there, I'm a piker, with comparatively little stock. But I don't need many hundreds of pounds of weed, hundreds of different blends, any more than I need 300 pipes. There will be hundreds of great blends that I will never get to smoke. Big deal. I've got many great blends that I enjoy.
Besides, the end isn't yet in sight, despite what anyone thinks. So I'm not going to start singing dirges to blends that may go away. A lifetime of rough and tumble have left me with no desire to waste breath on "what might have been". I'm going to buy what I can and enjoy what I have. There will still be plenty of options, one way or another.

What I think I may miss are new blends that we may never see. I am constantly amazed that so many different flavores can be achieved with they same 7-10? Ingredients.

When I run out of the blends I've been stockpiling I'll definitely miss them. But I understand what others are saying about having other choices and not spending too much mental energy on what they can't change. Totally valid point, I think.
That said, what I'm going to miss is watching creative blenders come up with new blends that people love (or hate). I'm going to miss beautiful tin art and design. I'm going to lament the loss of my freedom to buy something that someone else crafted through their own hard work and passion. And even if I had a cellar with a thousand pounds of tobacco in it, I would miss the pleasure I get from trying something new once in a while.

My local brick and mortar will have to stop blending their own creations, they have been doing this since the 1970's

and now these local tasty blends will be extinct.

I can tell you from long personal experience that if you buy the basic raw ingredients, age them well, apply careful blending and processing techniques gained from common sense, study and rational thinking, you can make your own blends that totally rock over most everything out there because YOU have total control in the outcome and how can it be any less because it will be exactly how you see your dream blend being!
While you might not quite be able to figure out how to get the exact same texture, look, smell, taste or feel of a specific, prized blend, it will still be great and all the better because you made it yourself.
So, we shall see what remains of the tobacco future, ITMT, with a little patience, ingenuity, imagination and applied skill, there is veritable gold waiting to be made from fairly common, plain bulk tobaccos or whatever is available to be had!

Well said sable.
I've been stocking up for the last 2 years, I've been fortunate enough to find favorites that I've stocked deep. Plus I'll have another 2 years to keep doing so. When the time comes to stop buying, I'll keep smoking and be just fine. I dont smoke near as much as I used to, and as it sits my cellar should last me for the duration.
Still need to pick up some WarHorse Bar though.

I was mostly good to go, then Temple Bar came out.
I probably have more than enough already. It's the new blends, that convince me I'm wrong that I'll miss.
