Decided to open up and try my tin of Black Frigate yesterday. Had a bad nicotine reaction. Am now wondering what I did since the forums from earlier posts seem to all say BF is a light-medium nicotine. Prior to smoking the BF, I had been enjoying Peretti London Flake and Peretti Coffee. I thought maybe it was an empty stomach issueas I had eaten breakfast, but skipped eating lunch. I was smoking it from 2pm-5pm.
Guess I will eat something before I try it again.
Anyone else have a nicotine reaction to Black Frigate or should I not be smoking it with the other two types of tobacco?

I have a low nicotine tolerance. For example, I can't smoke Mississippi River, even though I think it tastes great.

I've haven't had a bad nicotine reaction with Black Frigate, it's on my favorite rotation list when I'm in the mood for a Latakia blend.

The nicotine we get from pipesmoking is very different from cigarettes; not that it is a different chemical, but the way we slowly ingest it through the sinuses and small blood vessels of the mouth is very different from going through the lungs directly to the heart. So, your blood sugars get depleted and you get a stomach feeling with a bit of dizziness and nausea.

Try smoking on a full stomach, or nibble on a bit of chocolate and the effects of nicotine are lessened. But, after a while your body gets used to it, and you won't need the extra sugar.

Food and hydration set up good pipe smoking. I think I'm somewhat nicotine resistant, but probably it is more that I am a moderate smoker and often smoke one bowl after food. Also, I don't experience cravings when I lay off for a few days. I got zero nic effects from Black Frigate, but that's me and my routine.

Thank You all for the advice and experiences. Yes, probably stupid me just skipping meals.Doctor says I am on the fence with being "borderline diabetic" so I need to start watching my blood sugar levels more closely. Damn getting older! I probably had low blood sugar to start with and compounded it by smoking and drinking coffee without eating. Lesson learned.
Good thing too since I liked that BF. Marines! Away the boarding party!

I've had similar experiences smoking multiple bowls consecutively. Cosmic is right in the way nicotine builds slowly, and it becomes easy to accumulate "too much" before we're really aware that we're reaching that point. I have a pretty solid nicotine tolerance, but it happens to me sometimes as well. As for Black Frigate, I think it does have more nicotine than a standard Latakia blend. Not a real bell-ringer, but I wouldn't consider it a light nicotine blend either.

I must ask the question...do you inhale? You know, intentionally? Most here indicate they do not. I do, about every fifth puff. That is a very very large consideration when evaluating nicotine hit, buzz or whatever term is PC now.
