ok ok people need to relax here, we are all friends or we wouldnt be here.
Now while the ebay rules state no returns the seller should have said it in the posting as well so its binding, "if you buy this item there is no refund or returns." or something like if you dont like the item you pay for the shipping and a 20% restock fee will be applied to the return. thus you keep some money for your hassle and get the item back or you keep all the money and the buyer keeps the item. If ebay gets involved they would have to inspect the listing and item to see if there was a known issue on the sellers side or misuse on the buyers side.
All and all i make many wooden objects for people and while lighting does factor in, i can clearly see ware spots on the stem and some parts of the sides. i wouldnt have bought the item or would have asked for a more detailed picture. if that wasnt an option i wouldnt have given the pipe another look. I work with multiple forms of stain and sealers and have to say some not all but some shellac doesnt hold up to heat or will impart a slight color change due to how many layers are on the object. But this is all past its point and everyone should just understand that people need to vent. the seller should have stayed professional about the issue. it could have been handled much better.
