My wife likes the smell of Sansepolcro and Carolina Red Flake, works out great for me because these are my favorite C&D blends. But she only really complains is when I'm smoking a Latakia forward blend, while I love the flavor, I have to agree I don't much care for the room stench.

Luckily mine smokes cigars with me when I can smoke outside. She prefers Maduro so she has good taste in tobacco and doesn’t mind the smell. Some blends smoked indoors seem to bother her though.
You are a lucky man indeed.

My wife used to join me in a drink or three, and the occasional cigarillo or kretek (Indonesian clove cigarette).
All that stopped when we were expecting our 1st son many moons ago.

My wife has a super sensitive sniffer, so I'm always mindful of what blend I choose when I'm in her presence. Since I'm exclusively an outdoor smoker, it's not a frequent occurrence, but when it does happen, I know what blends to favor, and which to avoid.

Generally, I'm in agreement with the consensus here on VAs. Very light, very inoffensive, and seeing as we have a horse, the hay smell is naturally in perfect alignment. Wifey has never complained about a VA room note, not once, and, somewhat oddly, not even an English one either. The only complaints I've gotten were of a couple excessively goopy aromatics, and some stronger VaPer blends. My own personal favorite non-aromatic tin and room note is Mac Baren Burley London Blend, with an honorable mention of Savinelli 140th Anniversary.

YMMV, as always.
fun fact my girl only complains about Latakia. Like even sometimes EGR (RIP)

To suggest a completely different blend, I've had women compliment me when enjoying Bob's Chocolate Flake.

I find it only mildly aromatic but very tasty.
I have been wondering about this one for a while actually. As much as she compliments the smell of Gawiths Burley and Bright being chocolaty that sounds right up the alley. I think this might be my next purchase.

I enjoyed the chocolate flake. Not sure about the room note, sort of hard for me to get room notes when I’m smoking any blend.
Same here with the room note. Here I thought they all smelled good while I was smoking them. Apparently thats not the case lol.

I smoke usually solo. When I do smoke with my neighbor, they are smoking cigarettes. They always make sure to tell me they can’t smell my pipe when I’m smoking Virginia’s. But when I smoke an aro they say they can really smell it and it smells good.
Most recent was “corn Cobb with a button nose” they really enjoyed the room note

Hold your ground.

Any ground you lose will be gone forever.

Just humble opinion.
Humble opinion noted. Unfortunately this relationship ain’t my first rodeo. Trying to find a balance between doing it better than the last time and not giving into unnecessary crap.

This, I will give on though. She is pretty cool most of the time and beautiful all the time so I’ll cut her some slack on this one.

Samuel Gawith Firedance Flake, and Dan Devils’ Holiday are the two best rooms note tobaccos I’ve had. And both of them still present a quality tobacco flavor to the smoker as well.
