Is easiest when you're interrupted. Or you know you have to leave in ten minutes and the alternative is no smoke. Or you arrive early for an appointment, so you get out of the car for a ten minute walk and a smoke.
It's a plus when you smoke dry and have no worries that there's a glob of wet tobacco that'll taste like crap on relight, or turn to mold by the next day.

I bought a savinelli petite 402 cutty with the intent of shorter smokes. It's a tiny bowl. Packed with VA flakes, it still takes me 1.5 hours to smoke the bowl. Crazy!
I've been into burley flakes lately. I opened a tin of C&D burley flake #3. holy smokes that is stout. 30 minutes into any bowl, and my head is on the desk and I'm swimming for shore. I'd try that blend for a 20 minutes smoke.

The mini-cob is a really good short smoke pipe.
I agree with load the bowl half way or smoke it for ten minutes, let it go out, put it away, and come back to it later.
Personally when I go to have a bowl I'm looking to sit down for 40-60 minutes and unwind, so I'm not too used to short smokes. I have heard some guys using a windcap to keep the un-burnt tobacco in the bowl in between lights.

I've heard it implied that it was when work and life became too busy for someone to set down for an hour a few times in the day to enjoy pipes is when those fancy French cigarette papers became popular. Guys would roll up some of their tobacco out of their pouch and get a taste of it quickly and then get back to whatever. I've even seen it in a few old Noir films, a pipe smoking detective asks his secretary to roll him up some tobacco, because he doesn't have time to smoke his pipe.
This is why I have made it a point to center my activities around my pipesmoking, and not just trying to work it in during the day. Priorities. If you have the will, you can bend your life to meet your desires, and not just try to get a pique occasionally here and there. :puffy:

I've heard there's a great video on using one of those fancy microwaves.
Yeah, I have never seen a moldy bit of dottle either. Time to resurrect the best bit of advice on the internet.

I have learned in the past few years that it is important to make time to smoke a pipe. It is important to my mental health. YMMV.

I like my MM Eaton. I bring it fishing, walks, running errands. It's small and inexpensive. I can sneak a few puffs and sit it down if need be but it's very light so clenching is easy. I lean towards smaller pipes that I can pocket while on the go. You might wander through an antique store if you get a chance? I've found some small pipes for really good prices in antique stores. One of my nicest small pipes is a Stanwell Feather weight but I paid around $75 brand new. When I can't smoke but want a little nic boost I keep General Snus handy.

I mention from time to time the EWA pipes, French pipes sold by Iwan Ries. These are mostly Group 2, small but not the smallest. These are quality French pipes, nicely finished, churchwarden motif in some cases but available with relatively short stems (like seven inches total briar and stem), or in more regular shapes as pocket pipes, with a selection offered at about $38. With loose tobacco, you have a coffee break pipe. With flake/coin/etc., you can let it go out and use it for the next break. Nice pipes, real briar, French quality. For a short smoke or smokes, what's not to like? At least, check 'em out.

chris morgan bones pipes, my first 5 pipes are from him. i'm very new to pipe smoking. sometimes, i only fill half a bowl and that still takes me 30 min or more. had 3/4 bowl in one of studdy pot and that lasted 45min+. not sure how to do 10 min with pipes unless you just stop at 10 min mark. i still vape for quick nic fix. can't do cigarettes any more.

Quite a number of Ropp and Jeantet brand pipes will fit into this smaller bowl chamber category, and for those 10-15 minute short smokes I'd load them either with strong Kentcky fire cured flakes or alternatively Tabac de Semois / Five Brothers Burley ribbon,
