The Mitchell Thomas pipes sold at WV Smoke Shop are good for a lightweight pipe for doing work around the house & yard. Their inexpensive and smoke pretty good for the price. I have two. The smooth bowls do tend to heat up quick so you'll have to watch your cadence. I bought the (F) model on page 2 and love it. Here's the link:

For lightness in you mouth weight is not the only factor. Take a Canadian and a bent Billiard that weigh the same. The Billiard will feel much lighter due to the laws of leverage.

Also, I agree with the post above about a meerschaum, I have several and they weigh almost nothing and smoke great. puffy

Title edited for caps. Rule 9. Clarified that light weight doesn't apply solely to clenching.

Looking for a quality light weight straight pipe for every day use? Cobs are good just trying to expand into briars. Any suggestions?
I like pipes below 1oz/29g in weight for when I want to clench. Peterson and Savinelli have some "petite" lines however the bowl lasts 15-20min. For a longer smoke, great clencher and light pipe I have found older Sasieni's/Kaywoodie/Bertrams to be plentiful on Ebay/SP/etc... and you can find quite a few under the 1oz weight. Plus they look amazing.

For lower end options Ropp, Many of the Rossi (Picollo comes to mind) options, Nording compass pipes, Tsuge's tasting series and capito eggs (like a falcon), or falcon.

Mid range you'll have to look harder, savinelli and peterson both have lightweight options.

On the higher end Musico as mentioned, Scottie Piersel if you really want to spend big bucks.

Really what you should do is use the Smokingpipes.com pipe finder tool. You can filter their search engine based on weight (among many other categories).

I know you're looking at briar, but it has to be said meerschaum is lighter. Weight is a big factor for me as I'm a clencher, and for me it's gotta be meerschaum. I compulsively hunt sub-0.5 oz pipes. Altinay has a series with carbon fiber stems. They are robust and 15 gr or less. Not the cheapest at $160 and you'll be probably have to call your bank and ask permission to buy from a vendor in Turkey online, but the lightest thing I own so far. I call it the Altinay Basic

I have one of these as well and they are great! However, make SURE you read the details because some of them are NOT sitters (and as a result usually priced a bit lower ($130 or so )).
