Trust you to put a target on the back of any blend that’s got a high score. Praise from you is like the kiss of death.
To be fair, you could argue that the kiss of death saved Cringle’s life. By having under 20 points it doesn’t have to worry about double downs.

But earlier in this game you pointed out how well it was doing, which made it a target.

To clean out the hangers on, consider allowing a -2 for blends under 10 points.

Carry on.

To better elaborate on my C&D comment, visit smokingpipes.com under the tinned tobacco page and C&D has 165 options when it comes to 2oz tins. Under bulk, another 101.

Capstan comes in blue and yellow. If there were fifty shades of Capstan, there’s a good chance most of them would suck.

I think there’s a benefit to what STG does in “bean counting” because it fixes the SKU problem. They nix the shit blends and good blends and keep only the great ones.

As said yesterday (though my speech to text didn’t come out how I thought it did) every brewery can make one great beer, but rather than focusing on what they do well, they tend to try to make dozens of varieties.

I used to think lowly of C&D because I tried about a dozen blends without being impressed by any of them. But Sun Bear and Mad Fiddler and From Beyond are legitimately great, and I almost never tried them due to the SKU problem.

With Mac Baren I experienced the opposite problem. I tried an HH Virginia and thought… wow, with how good this is I’m glad to see they’ve got several dozen more blends to try. Instead, I found lots and lots of mediocrity with a couple notable exceptions.

What I like about this game is… based on what’s nominated and the passion people employ and defending blends they hold dear, I like to try new things and this process sniffs out the goodies in each brand.

I agree with @sablebrush52 here, bit of tall poppy syndrome being applied. Kill the underlings I say, slay them where they stand and show no remorse.
That was the initial user suggestion and it’s a good one. The problem - at this moment - is the number of points up for grabs.

Everybody’s done a great job keeping the death toll climbing, but we need to dwindle down or else Winchester might hit 50.

But isn’t that the point, if Winchester hits 50 and wins its because people like it.

Why don’t you try it first?

1931 added to my 🔥hit list🔥
Winchester, per description, is a VaBurCav that is supposed to be "reminiscent of Rattray's Dark Fragrant..." I have some open Dark Fragrant, and it is nice enough, but boring on it's own. I'll let the Winchester mature a bit...I certainly hope it will be as good as some here think!

On the happy side, Listened to the Greywoodie podcast interview with Leonard today and sounds like 4th Gen 1931 Flake (also a VaBurCav) is on the keep making list... So, Yay! And darn right, too, as it is the Best Dang Blend of 2024, in my book! nnnn
