I love buying estate pipes and do so on a regular basis. I still buy new once in a while but I am a sucker for a good deal. I only buy well cared for pristine estates that need nothing. I don't have the tools or desire to ever refurbish a pipe. There are so many great deals between ebay and some of the estate dealers if you know what prices should be and you don't get caught up in a bidding war. I have found that a lot of the lesser names from the Britsh makes like GBD, Sasieni, Comoy, Charatan, Willmer can be had for really low numbers. Many of these pipes are great smokers and in fine condition. Also some great names to look for are Caminetto, Ascorti, Mastro De Paja, Don Carlos, Radice, on the Italian front. You can get real lucky sometimes on Dunhill. Upshalls have been going for a fraction of their original prices, 400-600 dollar Upshalls are going for around 80-150.
