Ida made landfall just before noon. Winds are down to 130 mph at 4 pm central time. In Slidell the sustained wind is about 20 mph with gusts up to 42. Only been raining steady since about 2:30 at my house.

High and dry, on West side , wind gusts of 20 to 25mph, we were spared but the lower tip of the boot, Grand Isle were hit hard.

It’s horrible. I’m in Kenner right in the eastern eye wall! 12 miles east of New Orleans. Never seen anything like this
Oft repeated but true, don't go out to survey the damage until flooding has been assessed and an all clear given. Most people lost in hurricanes die in flooding, not in the high winds. The sun comes out and people think it's over and risk drowning. Stay off the roads and out of boats and let the assigned crews do their work.
This bad boy is gonna be around throughout the night...stay safe and stay inside.
My Daughters Bathroom in Mandeville, she’s in Florida, Husband stayed with the house.

Daughter in Mandeville has tree on house, tree on above ground swimming pool and wooden fences crushed by trees. Her family is ok, that’s what’s important.
I'm driving back home right up the path of this from NC to Alabama, so far, just some scattered rain. The storm is completely missing my home.

Just got some semblance of cell service. Lost power just before dark last night. Very minor damage to a piece of siding. We were worried about our maple tree in the front yard because we could see the roots trying to pull free of the yard. It survived.
Hopefully y’all aren’t out of power for too long, but I suppose there’s no telling. Fingers crossed it’s sooner rather than later.
