Yup! Id second moutwash.
Also, although I'm no dentist, are you getting your gums and tongue? That's where the smokey taste/odor will linger.

If by breathing out your nose, you mean "retrohaling" or cycling smoke through your nose, then I don't think that'd make smokers breath any worse.

I just figured it may contribute since you cant really brush your nose and get the tar out and such... would be weird if you could though lol

I think drinking water and staying hydrated may help.
Edit: if you have tar buildup in your nose, you may be smoking too much, lol!

Google "neti pot" - I use one regularly (for allergy relief), and it does help flush out any lingering sinus 'ghosting'... :D
I use a salt/baking soda mix (2:1), and then just add it to a pot full of lukewarm/body temp water (about 1/8-1/4 tsp, based on the size of the pot). Run half of it through one way, then run the other half through the other way.
And for breath mints, I just use Altoids. :D

I think the best way to combat bad breath is Hydrogen Peroxide and a tongue scrapper. I would also keep a bottle of saline on hand for flushing your nose a couple of times a day. This way when you exhale through your nose, you will keep sinus infections away and you can enjoy the benefits of smoking like that. In my experience nothing works better than the HP in combating bad breath as I have used almost every other mouth wash on the market.

+1 old cajun. My breath was remarkably fresher after using a tongue scraper. My dentist gives me one for free.

Most Dentists say the tongue is responsible for a lot of bad breath, brush your tongue or scrape it. The old cajun
I think this is a great call. A tongue scrapper works great for me.

"Get a new girlfriend"+1 foggymountain! I did exactly this. My girlfriend loves my pipesmoking. Yes we brush our teeth and it's all good.

What I do after I smoke a bowl or two is brush with baking soda and peroxide at night and make sure I scrap my tongue really well.
Side note: If your mouth becomes dry after smoking have a Halls cough drop or you can have some good old fashion gum. That's also important to keep your mouth moist.

Yeah, most of the above. Lordofthepipering's suggestion on flossing is a good one. Stuff between your teeth can catch

and hold tobacco odors, I would think. All of the above being said, no non-smoker with a good sniffer is not going to

pick up the scent of tobacco. To some people, this might be better than stale breath, given generally good hygiene.

If the scent and taste of tobacco just turns your girlfriend off, you might have to choose between this girlfriend and

pipe smoking. Of course, everyone on the Forums is bias toward the pipe, but only you know this woman. Other

thoughts: Since you might brush more, be sure you are using a soft brush or you really will wear down the enamel

and make your gums recede faster. If you and your girlfriend drink, a small glass of brandy or sherry for you both

might equalize things flavorwise. If you don't drink, mint tea or something like that might work.
