Backpacker's Churchwarden

For backpacking I'd recommend a MM Mark Twain cob and a vulcanite churchwarden Forever stem. Both are light and pretty much camp proof, and it all breaks down to just two pieces with a twist of the stem.

There's also this pipe. It actually has a stem that splits into two parts, so this may be closer to what you're thinking:

Well then ! It would seem those would take their own back pack. But they look too expensive to take backpacking. Maybe the O.P can try something like Gandalf's staff instead ???

Looking back at this thread, I just noticed that Vauen Auenland pipes are more expensive than my skull or mountain lion were.
