Cortez please tell us about the Germain's Royal Jersey Perique Mixture.
... and after only two bowls...
Germain's
Royal Jersey Perique Mixture is a moist, thin ribbon cut bordering on shag that is both smooth and strong (nicotine.) Most pipe smokers will find it, at least at first, to lean too much toward the taste of cigarettes. But if one patiently sips it, and probes it engaging mouth, nose and sinuses, its wonderfully sophisticated flavors release in a most pleasant fashion.
I can't help but feel that it has an Oriental component that isn't disclosed on the label. A taste that comes through quite clearly, and all the time, is the pungent flavor of giant green olives (with some, but not too much, of their sour component). The Virginia is fruity, yet with a tinge of bitter (in a good way), and the Perique is very subdued in every respect. Slight cigar-like room note, but pleasant. This is one of the very few tobaccos I can smell while smoking. If your smoking tastes lean toward the cigarette-like blends, then this is very good. Otherwise, spend your $10 on something you know you like.
