I dunno, man, if this was a place you liked and looked forward to going to for a long time, I don't think banning them permanently over some sales clerk's lack of personable customer service skills serves either you or the business well.
I understand your initial reaction; I can totally relate. Back in my home town, I had a more explosive reaction to a similar situation at a B&M ... I was over 30 at the time (many years ago!).
I do regret that I never communicated my objections in a meaningful way afterward. My experiences at this particular business weren't always so great, but how I dealt with it wasn't helpful to anyone. (Well ... I got to know codger tub blends pretty well .... and this was when the grocery stores still carried a variety.)
Hey, if the place mostly sucked, then this was as good a reason as any to cut ties with them. But if you liked going there, I'm sure there's an owner or manager who would really like to hear out your objections. These businesses are under draconian regulation now; if they're gone when online sales becomes a thing of the past (as warren has pointed out in this and a number of other threads), we're going to regret it if the B&Ms aren't around anymore, either.
(Despite my past experiences, I'm actually quite happy that the B&M I referred to is still alive and well.)
