I have a feeling this is a question with a very simple answer, or that I am simply not looking hard enough. But it seems most handmade/artisan Pipes stick to a traditional tenon and mortise fit. I don't see many craftsmen/women make pipes with an army mount. What is the reason for that? Or is my perception wrong on this?

I love army mounts and spigots too, so are there any reputable pipe makers that make these regularly?

Relatively few artisan makers have metal working skills, a different skill set from carving wood. Some have developed the skill. Others know how to work with findings manufactured elsewhere. The rest make what they know howto make.
The top British factory pipe manufacturers had their in-house smithies to make all the gold and sterling fitments required.

Hello George

I'm definitely still making pipes, just in a different pace and selection.

Now THAT is the best news I've heard about anything in a VERY long time!

Please get the word out. A large group of Old School collectors are under the impression you hung up your lathe.
