Army Mounts and Handmade/Artisan Pipes

I have a feeling this is a question with a very simple answer, or that I am simply not looking hard enough. But it seems most handmade/artisan Pipes stick to a traditional tenon and mortise fit. I don't see many craftsmen/women make pipes with an army mount. What is the reason for that? Or is my perception wrong on this?

I love army mounts and spigots too, so are there any reputable pipe makers that make these regularly?

I’ve made a few myself and I find them to be easier to make with the exception of fitting the cap. It takes a little longer to fit , but it’s not a lot longer.

Many make them.
Some of the Greeks do a terrific job with silver, see Kyriazanos and Asteriou. Both frequently do traditional shapes and styles.

Relatively few artisan makers have metal working skills, a different skill set from carving wood. Some have developed the skill. Others know how to work with findings manufactured elsewhere. The rest make what they know howto make.
The top British factory pipe manufacturers had their in-house smithies to make all the gold and sterling fitments required.
