Yes they are saying they had a supply on hand and just released it once every fall. In the 1st year (2016) they recalled it for mold. This is from the same Red Virginia used since 2015. Now it has run out so it will be curious to see what next fall offers.

The head blender at Cornell & Diehl did a video about the special red virginia used in Carolina Red Flake and he said it is indeed the last of it but they're hoping to find something as good so they can do another version next year.

I am more of a bright than red guy. I believe that I have a couple of tins aging from last year. I bought a couple more at midnight and I definitely had to add some of the new Amphora English to the order. I will store the Red’s and delve in to the Amphora.

I saw that mentioned in the reviews and wondered what happens after something like that. Is it tough luck? Do the tobacco companies reimburse or replace? How do pipe-smokers regain confidence in said blend?
C&D & SP took responsibility and offered to replace the tins with another blend or store credit. But the reports of moldy tins was so widespread that C&D took the unusual step of recalled the entire production run.
The following year's release did not appear to have the same problems, or at least to the same extent, so I bought tins from the third release last year.
I'd had a couple bowls of the first release before all of the mold reports came flooding in, and it was a pretty good matured Red of a type that's going to be difficult to replicate.

How long do you think it should age? I’ve got some 2017 I’ve never opened. C&D said they thought it would be OK when the mold issue was happening
