but it takes a special person to create a good flavor blend from natural different tobaccos “The way pipe smoking should be in my opinion “
Greg Pease had started off with this premise. The only thing he has added to his blends so far is a sprinkle of liquor on some of his blends. Many dispute his claims though. He used to come on here to discuss this with us, but trolls noticed that they could get him on here by starting the argument that his blends "were" cased or topped, so he stopped doing that.
So far, the only blender that I know of that has a selection of some tobaccos without any casings is Jeremy at C&D, but not all of their blends are casing/topping free. (I'm including GLP and the other brands that C&D handles here, because Jeremy is doing Greg's blending) And, I think this is where people get riled up. Some members can't distinguish between some and all.
Some have suggested that Macbaren's HH line has no casings, but some of us taste a casing, and they've not commented on that. But, power to them if they are free of any casings or such. They are pretty good blends regardless.
I don't hate all cased tobaccos. But, I do appreciate enjoying an uncased blend from time to time. To me, it shows a higher level of craft and art in blending than just splashing something on it to create balance or make it proprietary to the brand.
