Anyone Tamp With a Finger?

On the extremely rare occasions that I find myself without a tamper, sure. But I don't like to, partly because the tip of my finger isn't flat enough to create the surface I like.

The old-timers never used tampers, so why should I? When my father saw me using one he just looked at me with the most disappointed and confused face I have ever seen. He really couldn't understand why someone would use a tamper. And I've adopted that stance. I barely use tampers nowadays, especially if I am doing other things than just sitting.
