Anybody Seen This Dunhill Freehand Before??????

I'm not a Dunhill guy, so this pipe might have easily escaped my attention, but it certainly looks like a departure from the Dunhill design book. The stem, the ferrule, the freehand concept, it all looks most un-Dunhill to me. I'll be interesting to hear what the Dunhill scholars have to say. This looks like Dunhill by Mummert to me. Bad joke.
Sorry, forgot to add, it has an underlined 24. Which I am assuming it is a 1984. I would add a pix of the nomenclature, but I am photography closeup challenged.
Hopefully, one of our resident Dunhill experts will chime in and give you the skinny on it. I will look forward to reading what they post.

Ahem, I don't want to say the Dunhill freehands were ugly, maybe quite homely is more gentle. The Danes do them better, and always did.
Never seen a Dunhill that ugly. Could be worth a fortune.

I always think of wizards and hippies when I see freehands, that "it just grew that way" look. They probably grew out of the Arts and Crafts movement in Northern Europe. There are some famous jewelers that were inspirational at that time as well.

I am quite old and recall seeing my first freehand in the late 60' or 70's and thinking "What is that?, and "Why?"
They’re definitely not for everyone. I just like them for the fact that they are peculiar. I’m a sucker for gimmicks ?
I have a hard time seeing Dunhill adding their Acrylic ferrule. I would not be surprised if the pipe wasn't originally something like what Brobs posted and was damaged and then repaired and that was installed.
Nice pipe but Izvestia to question why a company who defines traditional pipe shapes would venture into that arena.
I don't know much about that pipe, but I have purchased from this seller a few times. He has always stood by his listings.
Dunhill covers the classics for sure, but let’s not forget the windshield pipe, or their Christmas pipes with themes, or their Dalmatian pipe, etc. They do explore all sorts of avenues in addition to keeping with the classics!
Oops, "ohfatty" IS the seller I was referring to. I didn't even know he was a pipesmagazine forum member until 2 minutes ago. Hilarious!
Initially, I thought the ferrule was added, however there is zero evidence of any crack and nomenclature appears to be in a standard location. . However, the original owner may have not liked the length and the ferrule added as an extension. Or it could be the result of a wacky Brit at the Dunhill lab. That is the main reason I posted this, was to see if anyone has seen a duplicate.
