My friend's father inherited mineral rights and never really worked, spent his entire life hunting and fishing in East Texas, and left his daughter to extended family when his wife died. He would hunt stacks of cougar and red wolves. When the red wolves were hunted out, he went into total denial insisting they'd moved on further west or south or somewhere. Of course, they are extinct in most areas. I think there are 35 in N.C., which isn't a genetically viable population, just an experiment. Now it looks like they'll hunt them out.
