I don't think mineral content really matters for cubans, it's simply cuban seed that grows best in the cuban enviroment. The whole reason domincan's and nicaraguan's are starting to get good is they finally abandoned trying to grow cuban seeds in these other places and grown Dominican strains and Nicaraguan seed in their proper places. There's cheap cubans that are crap, but all in all, nothing beats a good cuban imo.
I've been appreciative of the montecristo no. 2 torpedo. The larger ring size and decent length provide a full but smooth smoke. Since taking up a pipe I've moved further away from cigars finding more satisfaction in the variety and quality of pipe tobaccos, to say nothing of the beauty of pipes themselves. Oh, If you smoke a cigar, for god's sake remove the band first...
I'm only a casual cigar smokerand have only found 1 cigar that I absolutely Love.

It's the perfect cigar for me. So damn meaty It's like in eating crispy brisket bits for an hour. It's amazing.
I used to be a huge cigar smoker and at one time had 3000 cigars in a temperature controlled and humidity controlled large cabinet. 95 percent were Cuban and my favorite size was the Lancero because of the wrapper to filler ratio. At one point I was smoking 6-8 a day and had a ton of aged cigars. My favorites were the PARTAGÁS SERIE DU CONNAISSEUR NO. 1, Cohiba Lancero, Trinidad Fundadores and Don Carlos Lancero.
Here is a pic of my old humidor.
