Before I started making beer I made a batch of mead, super delicious, I even mixed in some fruits in some bottles, damned delicious, but the best was adding a thimble full of cinnamon to one bottle. Great pre-christmas hobby for cheap and original gifts!

A mead IPA? Could be very cool. I prefer Doppelbock or IPA when I drink beer. Depends if I'm feeling malty or hoppy that day.

IPAs are the only beer I generally don't care for. They always leave a bad after taste. Sweet drinks have their place just as dry drinks have their's. I love beer, sweet and dry wine, and liquor. I can't wait to give mead another try!

Drinking some Chokecherry Mead I found at a liquor store I have never been before. wow it is strong. I mixed it with my usual mead Winehaven, that I get that that is made here in Minnesota. It mellowed it out just perfect.

Having a bowl of Q-1/BCA blend in my Ben Wade with it

I'd love to try some. Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of nowhere, the two close shops I go to don't carry it (and I doubt the Walmart does) so it will have to be when I get back to Chicago, whenever that is. That mead-making kit looks enticing though... probably worth a PAD/TAD order, haha.

I love mead! I have been drinking Artesano from Vermont and love it.... I am in NY so that means a long road trip. The local company nearby went belly up so that leaves me to brew my own... I am a beer brewer so I have all the equipment... I just need to get off my duff and brew some up.

Ohio river valley makes good mead. They also make ice wine - which is unreal if youve never had it. A good IPA is owed tonight. But again, the ice wine will make you believe in god.

Photoman: there is a mead-maker outside Asheville called Fox Hill. I don't know where in East TN you are, but the meadery is an hour and a half from Johnson City, and that drive is certainly nice.
(I don't know if they offer tastings or tours or what - their website doesn't say - but they ship, so you might be able to find their wares in TN.)

My father in law introduced me to mead a few years ago. Absolutely love the stuff. We usually get a few of the Redstone Meadery bottles. A bit pricey, but definitely worth it.

Kelp: that's almost my story. My father-in-law keeps bees as a small-scale retirement hobby and ran out of things to do with the honey.

OK guys, I am ready to buy

!
So please tell me what I should buy and try. I am a fan of anything like Kool AId. I mean a beverage in which I can indulge without the serious burn most alcohol gives me in the throat and a clean fresh, sweet aftertaste. You see, I can drink any kind of microbrew beer but when I try wine and saki I get some serious heartburn and feel lousy. A wine cooler seems to sit OK with me but that's about it.

Yeah I do my own home brew meads and the campsite I frequent has a meadery on premise my latest is a five gallon rhubarb came out sweet and no alchohol flavor somewhere over 25% according to the vinometer. haven't found a tobbaco that really hits the spot with it though
any good meade and tobbaco pairing tips?

There's a bar here in Portland that only sells cider and mead...the selection is amazing. I'll be making a batch of mead soon. I've been successfully making hard cider for a few years now. The transition to mead should be pretty smooth.

Every time I ask about mead in a liquor store (I live in Queens NY) every liquor store attendant I have ever asked has looked at me like I just sprouted three purple heads.
