Haha, I bet it did the job, though. My first ferment was kilju (Finnish sugar wine). I just wanted to get the process down and didn't want to spend much on ingredients. It wasn't great, despite my efforts, and ended up tasting like a very cheap sake and very reductive. Watching some of my buddies try to figure out what they were drinking was pretty entertaining. Most of it went down the drain.You'll have to let me know if you do, I love a good mead and especially a dryer one. One of my first ferments ever was with some buddies in college when we were all 19 and we got a ridiculous amount of Costco honey and made some from that. I'm sure it wasn't good but for how young and inexperienced we were it turned out fine by my taste.
