In case you're unfamiliar with the series, it's a British "dramedy" based in Port Wenn, Cornwall. Doc Martin is Doctor Martin Ellingham, a prominent London surgeon who develops a phobia of blood and has to quit surgery. He moves to the sleepy seaside village of Port Wenn to be a GP. "Martin" is brilliant, rude, brusque and emotionally undeveloped and the villagers are fond of referring to him as a "tosser"
Episodes are available on Netflix. My wife and I are hooked. :puffy:

And I thought you were asking about the heavy tie-up boots that used to be urban chic about

a thousand years ago. Doc Martin sounds like a natural heir to House and Becker, though he

may have actually come before those, since he's imported and may have taken some years to get

here.

Thanks guys - very glad to know that I am not the only one hooked on this series! I hear that Season 6 is currently running (Netflix only goes to season 5 so far) and a season 7 is in the works.

lol I thought you were meaning the boots. I was going to say, "No, I'm more of a Kenneth Cole man myself".
I think that's on Netflix Instant Watch. Might have to check it out some time.

Let us know if you try it. My brother-in-law introduced us to the series and I only half-liked it at first - but we kept at it and after a few episodes, we were hooked.

I have been watching Doc Martin for several seasons every Thursday evening on PBS. Unfortunately, this season are all reruns since they only make new episodes every two years. However, I like Doc Martin so much I have been watching the reruns this season.
I also am hooked on Modern Family.

I kind of come and go with Doc Martin. At times I find it brilliant, but other times a little over the top.
It is over the top at times, but as a comedy, I can forgive it.
I'm half way through the first episode and I like it so far. Thanks for the recommendation.
That's great to hear - after a few episodes the characters start to become like family.

Most comfortable shoes I own. :P
I like British tv. Mostly the old stuff but I'll check this show out.

Yes, my Better Half (a nurse) loves it, and her sister rents a cottage in the Cornish seaside village where it is filmed. I have watched a couple of episodes but I prefer my pipe and a book to watching television. I did enjoy what I saw, but as a physician of thirty five years standing I was amazed at the number of rare conditions that crop up in such a small village over such a short time - something in the water?
PS I am told that compared to Doc Martin I am grumpier and more cynical but that I have a good bedside manner and am much better looking - Phew!!

I spent a few days this summer in Port Isaac, the Cornish village where it's filmed, and drank a few pints in the general vicinity of Martin Clunes and the other cast and crew. That's the end of my story. I hope you enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed it for several season. Then, it started seeming like the same joke over and over.
