The animated ad banners are quite annoying. I don't mind paying the bills but this is excessive distraction and takes away from enjoyment of the forum. :(

Many just got settled after the "big" upgrade. Having to relearn usage patterns and habits gets old. I always bitch at my local grocer for rearranging things, too. It's not just here.

Point in fact, the whole reply box is entirely bollixed up. Half of the buttons ribbon is negative space!! Why not just leave the icons the way they were, all across the buttons ribbon, then when it does fill up, use the three-dot option button?

It annoys me too. I was messing with it, trying to get it back to the way it was, but it wasn't cooperating. I'll try again soon. When software gets updated, we have no choice but to follow along as part of the update is fixing newly found security issues that were fixed. It's not just feature changes.

Btw, in addition to this being non-voluntary, and PipesMagazine.com having nothing to do with the changes - we can't take credit for what you like, and we can't blamed for what you don't - it's not just press a button and viola!

Twelve hours of work and testing had to go into this, where I am paying an hourly rate to a developer.

That's because Xenforo was recommended as the best forum package, and it is in many ways. However, when tied in with WordPress, it can be a complete fiasco. That's why we have an offline testing site for the updates. We update, and ten things break, and then we have to figure out how to fix them one by one. It's definitely not fun.

Once we finally get the last thing fixed, we go live, and find out what everyone likes, and doesn't like, and then have to weigh what we should spend even more time on.

I hate to admit to using Safari but this recent update plays well with it...I used to have a significant delay with loading each page, seems to have gone away. Yay for me...then again, I should probably use a better browser, too. Cheers!

My notifications aren't deleting when viewed. Maybe a bug?

I use Safari and think it is fine. Just don't get me started on the Big Sur update. It's like Mac wants to become Windows.

Yo, Kevin,

Thanks, I trust you'll get it working.

Yea, I hear you. One reason I hate updating software: there's always something being broken by the update. Quite a number of times after I updated my VPS my E-mail got all bollixed up and I had to ask a tech to fix it. Not fun. It's a hassle, because there's no other way but updating to get the security holes patched up.

RE: Xenforo: like so many other platforms, their emphasis nowadays is to focus on mobile to the detriment of computer users. The sparse button ribbon seems to me an effort to make the reply box fit the tiny screens of mobile devices—they probably don't have any negative space: any mobile users please report on this—but on desktop/laptop it looks inefficient:

And it IS inefficient, requiring extra clicks to get to the stuff you're constantly using.

I just hope the new platform doesn't start discriminating against older browsers. Already some sites don't like my version of Firefox. ?
