There are at least two brands named Alexander. One is an American carver who makes what appear to be excellent handmade pipes. The other is a Greek manufacturer whose pipes are said to be affordable, good-smoking pipes -- a step up from a basket pipe.
Greek Alexander is a forum member who usually pipes in on artisan pipemaking questions, but I haven't seen him on here in a while. I've never owned one, but he keeps them very affordable, or so I hear.
They are nice looking pipes for a good price. I have been looking at them for awhile, at first they were very simple shapes and finishes but i have noticed he is starting to make a better looking quality. I might have to check one out.
I have ordered a pipe kit from his son, Kostas. It is on its way to Iceland, so I will make some thread about my eskimo-pipe project made from Alexander pipes briar. I guess he uses similar quality briar maybe even from the same source for his regular pipes. I like his cobra-shape.
