If anyone had any doubt what CPG stood for, you now know it rightly stands for Certified Pipe Genius.

Well done, brother! The opening on that shank must be pretty wide from the looks of it.

Yes it is, camel bone to be specific.
Was there a specific property of camel bone or historical accuracy that made you choose it?

The mortise is huge, it was originally one of those Wellingtons with the comically long stems. I like it because of the large mortise and it’s enormity. I’d actually like to have a few more of em to make crazy stems for.

I chose camel bone because that’s what the luthier supply shop sells in 1/2” round blanks. 😉 Otherwise no, bone is bone for most part. I’m not sure what Peterson used, probably bovine, ovine, and swine. Or whatever they could get from local meat packer.

Do you do miracles with ancient meerschaum pipe stems?
He does? Oh, that’s marvellous news! I’d like to place myself 2nd in the queue, after your good self.

Fantastic job on that stem, sir!👍
I notice its got a nice ‘shoulder’ to it, something petersons themselves didn’t do on the 4AB’s (apart from the rusticated ones).
