Was there a specific property of camel bone or historical accuracy that made you choose it?
The mortise is huge, it was originally one of those Wellingtons with the comically long stems. I like it because of the large mortise and it’s enormity. I’d actually like to have a few more of em to make crazy stems for.
I chose camel bone because that’s what the luthier supply shop sells in 1/2” round blanks.
Otherwise no, bone is bone for most part. I’m not sure what Peterson used, probably bovine, ovine, and swine. Or whatever they could get from local meat packer.
