Hey Zach, great pipe. I really like how the ring acts as a textural break while also accenting the cream tones in the brindle stem. The whole piece is really well balanced which is something I rarely see in many of the up and coming American carvers. Bonus points for fully finishing mortise face. My one criticism, and it's the same for almost every author pipe I see, is the thick stem...
I would really love to see folks break from tradition and give these things a thin comfortable, no compromise bit. GeorgeD posted photos of a restem job with a saddle stem. I thought it was just about the worlds most perfect pipe. Anyway, yours is really lovely and I'm genuinely sorry that I missed your for sale posting,
